Public Relations Director: Jaime Hughes

Jaime Hughes has only been on our Board of Directors since April but is slowly chipping away at making a bigger impact with the Fish Samaritan House community! Since then, and thanks to board member Mr. Frank Bellamy she was nominated as Fish Samaritan's new public relations director and has been more hands on than ever! It is not just public image to the media that is important it is also making sure that Fish Samaritan House is clean and presentable. Jaime spends her days tackling between contacting the media and scrubbing shelves at Fish.

"I believe a board member should do more than just sit and delegate. Get your hands dirty!"

Jaime is a 2007 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School when during that time she was first introduced to Fish Samaritan House. "Our senior year, we were allowed to participate in a service course that allowed us to leave the school and go into our community and help out." A current YSU student with ambitions of getting a masters in Library Science, Jaime dedicates much of her free time to helping others. She is a part time volunteer at the Youngstown Museum of Labor and Industry, a part time archives assistant at Maag Library and also gives her time here and there to help homeless pets in our area get exersize and find good loving homes.

Jaime's main goal for Fish Samaritan House? "To provide Fish Samaritan House with a food pantry every single day (It is currently only open on Wednesdays), and to introduce Fish to those in our community that may not be aware of where we are and what we stand for."

Thank's Jaime for all you do within the community and for Fish!!

  1. for a lot of years my now 70 year old mother has visited and shopped your store.. on a fixed small income she has always looked foward to purchasing for 2 dollar donation a pie or a cake or some other goody from your store.. as of late your people at the store have been "holding back" the goodys for certain "people".. this is not fair or very nice.. there have been several people from the neighborhood that have expressed this to me.. this matter needs addressed.. no person should be denied the right to purchase/donate for a pie or cake based on their color or age or amount of children they have or do not have in her case.. she hasn't a lot of money an always looks foward to this.. now they dont let her.. please address this matter.. I will be contacting you personally if necessary.. as well as whom ever is in charge of donating the baked goods to your organization.. please use fair practices in your food distributions.. she's old and from the neighborhood and has looked foward to these pies and or cakes for quite some time.. thank you..

  2. I agree with everything that Charlene says and then some! The people running the store is a disgrace their bias and they give away to whomever they want to their friends or family all the profits of this store is going that direction if they want to know why their stores not making money they need his camp out a few days and say for themselves they give away so much stuff to their friends for free and they charge the average person 90 cents for a bra 35 cents for a washcloth 254 ital why their friends come in and get a bag for clothes food whatever they want furniture for free, I've see it all the time! they are rude to the people they don't like it they think you had five dollars in their pocket they're going to charge you whatever they can why they let their friends friends walk out with bags of stuff for free how do you call that fair how do you call that taking care of the poor people helping them out all you're doing is helping them fill their pockets! I've seen it so many times the people that work there special this old old lady that works there will fill her car every single time I've been there which is like every few days I've heard from other people she does it every day Phill her car with bread whatever she can get first choice what everyone else has to get whatever they decide to give us how sad that is the only person that's worth anything there is ghetto he's not out for himself Tina and the other volunteers are still in you blind how can you not know what's going on in your own organization please do something about it! There's a lady that goes there tall grey haired lady that has a resale she goes into fish gets bags of stuff for 2 or 3 dollars and resells it at her store for a profit then there's another man that drives up in his truck every morning loads of the back of his truck with pictures furniture lamps whatever he can get Android's off and sells it at the flea market for a profit wake up people do something about it sincerely Mary
